Welcome to my Blog!

Here you'll find new reviews every week of restaurants around the Main Line and Philadelphia. I am in search of restaurants with locally grown, organic food, and vegetarian options. There has been a surge of interest in organic and local farming and dining recently in the Philadelphia area. In September of 2010, I had the opportunity to see a pre-screening of the documentary 'Forks Over Knives' and the movie made such a profound impact on me, I have been vegetarian ever since. Finally we are becoming more conscious of where our food comes from. I know that there are restaurants and cafes out there that seek out local, organic, and sustainable farming, and I plan on visiting all of them, one at a time!

Yogo Sano in Wayne

Yogo Sano claims that they are the only frozen yogurt store in the Philadelphia area that serves the highest quality USDA certified organic tart yogurt. This new establishment opened up recently in the spot that used to house Cafe Procopio, across the street from the Great American Pub. It seems as if a lot of fresh new places are cropping up in Wayne as of late. It's hot.

After trying Sweetgreen in Ardmore a few weeks ago, I was anxious to try something new, and anxious to see if there was a chocolate offering.
Decorated sparsely with clean bare white walls the decor is simple and bright. We walked up to the counter and looked at the offerings. A small portion (which is truly "small") is $3. A medium size is $4, and a large is $5. One topping is included. The topping choices are all fairly healthy, with the exception of a few cookies and candies, aimed to please the younger crowd, I'm sure. Choices included nuts, berries, syrups, and much more. I was looking for some chocolate or carob chips, and settled for dark chocolate shavings on mine. She sprinkled them on kind of sparse too. I wanted more chocolate! The kids opted for Oreos, and MandM's. Expecting something more akin to ice cream. my daughter did not like the taste and refused to eat hers. My son devoured his and asked for more. I thought the yogurt was excellent, a step above Sweetgreen in Ardmore, which I found to be too tart. What I loved was that I got something sweet and it tasted good and felt healthy. The yogurt is USDA-Certified Organic, and it's low fat. I left wanting more.
MMmmm. I'll definitely be back.
